in previous two article of SCOM installation series we have discussed how to prepare server and install SQL server
this article we will see how to install and verify SCOm server
also we list some of most important tasks post SCOM installation

we have windows 2016 server with IP address 172.16.100.142 which we will install SCOM
other server in DMZ will be SCOM client beside of client computer in LAN subnet
install SCOM 2019
To install SCOM 2019 /
- Go to the folder where you extracted the SCOM 2019 installation files.
- Run the SCOM 2019 setup.
- On the setup screen, click Install.
verify SCOM installation
we can verify SCOM installation wit many methods , Like :
Post SCOM installation
post SCOM installation tasks include the following :
- Just wait a few time so system get stable
- Identify assets that require business critical monitoring
- Perform discovery process to locate these assets
- Open operation manager console à monitoring à check what is required to be accomplished
- Please note that SCOM server has NOT yet define most criteria , because there is NO MP has been imported yet [like OS MP]
- Install agent on computers : windows ,Linux
- SCOM agent assignment [manually Vs AD publishing]
- Agentless monitoring Vs Agent monitoring
- SNMP monitoring for network devices
- Import management pack MP
- Configure notification : either by SMS , Instant messaging , SMTP , CMD
- Configure SSL for web access [https] if http is applied
- Upgrade to full version if trial version is used
