introduction

in first article of SCOM installation series we have discussed how to prepare SCOM server 

in second article we will see how to  install and configure SQL server for SCOM installation  

install SQL Server

SCOM use SQL DB 

  • operational DB 
  • Warehouse DB  

insert SQL serve DVD in SCOm server and run setup 

new installation
enter key or use evaluation
accept agreement
firewall is enabled > SQL port will be open by GPO
select DB engine with full text
create new SQL instance
run SQL services with account SQLadmin
set SQL administrators
review and accept to install
SQL installation DONE

install SQL Mgmt studio

SQL management Studio used to Manage SQL Server and DB 

run setup SQL mgmt studio
installation DONE > restart

configure SQL port and services

it’s important to make sure SQL services and port is configured properly 

run SQL server configuration manager from start
make sure ALL protocols are enabled
make sure ALL IPs are active and enabled > also dynamic port is empty and static port is 1433
restart SQL services

install SQL reporting service

Reporting services are  included with SQL 2016 installation.

run SQL setup to install SRSS 

new installation
next
select add new feature to exist instance
select reporting services
run serviice with account SQLadmin
review and accept to install
installation DONE

Reporting Services Configuration

It is important that you configure the reporting services before you install SCOM 2019.

With SQL 2016  reporting services is included along with installation.  

Launch the Reporting Server Configuration Manager. Click Connect.

from start > select reporting service
select server name and instance
services is started
set service account pioneers\SQLadmin
change DB
create new reporting service DB
test connection succeeded
set DN name with language
set service account
review and next
progress finished
reporting service set successfully

Conclusion

SCOM is prepared and SQL server is installed and configured with Reporting Services
